Project Objective
To develop, integrate, cultivate and promote research, outreach and education opportunities for the Road Ecology Program’s growth and development within WTI’s strategic plan.
Project Abstract
With the many challenges that exist in the field of road ecology, WTI is positioned to lead a national effort in understanding and mitigating the impact of surface transportation systems on the environment. An overarching goal for the road ecology focus area is to develop a coherent integrated program that has a clear focus and successfully builds on its strengths. A major challenge will be deciding which new opportunities are developed so that growth and diversification is conducted strategically and staffing and funding is balanced. WTI has hired Rob Ament to develop a clear strategic direction for the program and coordinate the research of the staff, therefore directing the overall success of the program.
